Mr. and Mrs. Fred W. Shull Jr. of Oak Ridge announce the engagement of their daughter, Laura Louise, of Covington, Ga. to Charles Andrew Vanzant of Chattanooga.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mrs. Nell R. Shull of Burlington, N.C., and the late Fred W. Shull Sr., Mrs. Martha G. Neighbors of Columbia, S.C., and the late Howard Neighbors.

Miss Shull is a 1987 graduate of Oak Ridge High School. She graduated with honors from University of Tennessee at Knoxville in 1991 with a major in psychology. She is a recipient of the Susan Hundley Award and while in college served as a member of Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority and American Marketing Association. She is currently employed at the Newton County Department of Family and Children Services in Covington, Ga., as a caseworker principal.

The groom elect is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Vanzant III of Pulaski. He is the grandson of Mrs. Virginia Vanzant and the late Dillon Vanzant of Pulaski, Murrell J. Bligh and the late Catherine Bligh of Winchester.

Mr. Vanzant is a 1986 graduate of Giles County High School. He graduated from University of Tennessee at Knoxville in 1992 with a major in statistics/calculus. He served as a member of the Statistical Organization. He is currently employed as a traffic analyst for Covenant Trucking Company in Chattanooga.

The couple will exchange wedding vows July 10 in a 6 p.m. ceremony at First United Methodist Church in Oak Ridge. The wedding reception will be held at the Garden Plaza Hotel in Oak Ridge.
