Marvin and Bill Travis celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception given by their children recently at Franklin County Country Club. Their children are Sue Hawkersmith, Linda Moorehead and Murrell Steed Travis. The couple have four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Mr. and Mrs. Travis were married Oct. 1, 1937 by Rev. Flynn Humphreys at the home of her mother, Mrs. Dessie Steed on North Jefferson Street in Winchester. Mrs. Travis is the daughter of the late W. L. and Dessie Leonard Steed. Mr. Travis is the son of the late Charles and Sue Murrell Travis. Franklin County Country Club was decorated with flower arrangements in fall colors, many of which were provided by old friends. The guest register was kept by granddaughter Carrie Lee Moorehead. Fruit punch was served by granddaughter Melanie Perkins. Out of town guests included the following; Charles (Buddy) Travis, Jr. of Nashville; Pat Ray of Normandy; Margaret Krauth Palmer of Shelbyville; Dave and Frances Robinson of Lebanon and Mr. and Mrs. Roy F. Jonas of Miami Beach, Fla. |
