In a double ring ceremony performed at the Zion Methodist Church in Gordonville, at 3 o'clock Sunday afternoon, Miss Marie Deneke, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Will A. Deneke of Gordonville and Oscar David Niswonger, son of Rev. and Mrs. O. D. Niswonger of Patton, former minister of the Maple Avenue Methodist Church, Cape Girardeau, were wed.

The bridal pair exchanged the vows before an embankment of fern and palm branches with four standards of candles each holding seven white tapers. Rev. Niswonger, father of the bridegroom, performed the ceremony assisted by Rev. J. T. Evitts, the pastor.

Because of the illness of the bride's father, Roy Deneke escorted his sister to the altar and gave her in marriage. She wore an embroidered eyelet dress, with full skirt and high neckline fastened at the back. A rounding yoke with a ruffle was repeated with a folded tunic and ruffled edge gathering at the back in a large bow.

The sleeves were fitted to the wrist and a wide ruffle of self material fell over the hand. A finger tip veil was used with a halo of white floral arrangement. She carried an arm bouquet of Bettertime roses tied with white satin ribbons. In one hand the bride carried a white laced linen handkerchief, made an given to her by Miss Ruth Lovell of St. Louis.

Serve As Attendants

Miss Gladys Rasche of Cape Girardeau served as matron of honor. Her dress was of yellow dotted swiss. Mrs. Orville Deneke, sister-in-law of the bride, was bridesmaid. Her dress was of blue silk sheer. Both the attendants carried colonial bouquets of white daisies.

The bridegroom chose for his attendants his brothers, Ivy Niswonger and Paul Niswonger. Ushers were Marvin Deneke of Gordonville and Don Whitener of Marquand. The ushers also served as candlelighters. Mrs. Roy Deneke, organist, played appropriate selections during the pre-nuptial period and Orville Deneke, brother of the bride, was vocal soloist.

Immediately following the ceremony guests at the wedding attended a reception in the church parish house with the bridal pair and their mothers receiving. Both mothers wore summer crepes with pink rose corsages.

Mrs. Niswonger is a graduate of College High School and completed work for her B. S. degree in Education at State College this summer. She taught in Jackson public school but at present is an elementary teacher at Mehlville, which position she plans to continue.

Mr. Niswonger is a graduate of the high school at Linn, Mo. He attended Central College at Fayette for two years and received his degree at State College this spring. He served 2 1/2 years in the Navy. On September 1 he will take a position with the Missouri State Board of Health.

Mr. Niswonger and his bride left Sunday evening on a honeymoon. Approximately 250 family members and friends attended the wedding and reception.
