Retired Lt. Col. and Mrs. Jerry W. Twaddell, Cape Girardeau Route 1, have announced the engagement of their daughter, Heather J. Twaddell, to Dennis L. Niswonger Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Dennis L. Niswonger Sr. of Jackson.

Twaddell is a 1984 graduate of Rantoul High School in Rantoul, Illinois, received a bachelor's degree in mass communications from Southeast Missouri State University in 1988, and a master's degree in English from the University in 1990. She was a member of Alpha Xi Delta. Twaddell is employed by Southeast Missouri Hospital Foundation.

Niswonger is a 1986 graduate of Jackson High School, and attended East Central College. He is assistant manager of Inland Energy.
