Washington, April 19 - Mr. and Mrs. Joel Barlow have announced the engagement of their daughter, Miss Grace Morris Barlow, to Walther Bartz Schneider, son of Mr. and Mrs. Walther Frank Schneider of Wawa, near Media, Pa.

A fall wedding is planned.

Miss Barlow is descended from two signers of the Declaration of Independence, Robert Morris and Philip Livingston, and from Chief Justice John Marshall. Her father is a senior partner in the Washington law firm of Covington & Burling.

She is an alumna of the Potomac and Madeira Schools and attended Garland Junior College in Boston. Until recently, she was with the National Geographic Society. She was presented in 1961 at the Washington Debutante Ball and at the Bachelors Cotillon in Baltimore. Her maternal grandfather, Philip Livingston Poe of Baltimore, who is 90 years old, is the closest living relative of Edgar Allan Poe.
