A household shower was given at the Cottage Drive-Inn last Friday night for Mrs. Jimmy Pharris, a recent bride. The party, at which Mrs. Pharris received many useful gifts, was attended by about 50 of her friends and was sponsored by Misses Marie Higdon, Mary York, Marilyn Tucker and Mary Elizabeth Stevenson.
Mrs. Pharris, the former Miss Neva York, and Mr. Pharris were married at Piggott, Ark., November 26. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dola York, who live south of Sikeston. She is a teacher at the Fairview school near her home. She is a graduate of the Matthews high school and later attended State College at cape Girardeau.
Mr. Pharris is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Sharron Pharris of the Del Rey Hotel. He was educated at the Kemper Military Academy at Boonville, Mo., and Missouri University at Columbia. He is presently employed by the Sikeston Laundry.
