Samples Family Hosts 60th Anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Sample of Cape Girardeau were honored on their wedding anniversary December 27 at Grace Methodist Church. Forty-seven members of the Sample family attended the worship service together, were served a dinner at the church and hosted an open house that afternoon.
A program, "Getting to know The Samples," was presented by Mrs. Norman Swan. Mr. and Mrs. Sample were married December 24, 1921, at Perryville. She is the daughter of the late David and Cora Lee (Roberts) Niswonger of Patton, and his parents were the late George and Nettie (Conrad Sample) Barks of Sedgewickville.
Gifts were presented by Mrs. Lloyd Young, Scott City, representing the children, by Mrs. John Stanard of Poplar Bluff for the grandchildren, and by Richard Druckenmiller, Marietta, GA., representing the great grandchildren.
The couples' children hosted the event. They are Mr. and Mrs. Norman Swan, Pocahontas; Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Young, Mr. and Mrs. Gene Sample, Mr. and Mrs. George Sample, Mr. and Mrs. Roger Sample and Mr. and Mrs. James Koetting.
