Sources and Notes: Council Bluffs Nonpareil, Council Bluffs, Pottawattamie, Iowa, December 17, 1950 Brides in Week-end Ceremonies Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Goos are on a southern wedding trip today following their marriage Friday evening at St. Paul?s Lutheran church of Council Bluffs, the Rev. Norris Crook officiating. The couple was married on the 59th wedding anniversary of the bride?s grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Mortensen of Underwood. Mrs. Goos is the former Jacqueline Jean Jefferis, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Vernie Jefferis of Council Bluffs. Her husband is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Goos of Treynor. Mrs. Robert Goos was soloist at the double ring ceremony, accompanied by Mrs. Norris Crook at the organ. Donald Jefferis and Donald Goos lighted the tapers. The bride?s gown was of white lave over satin, fashioned with a sheer nylon net yoke edged with appliqu? in a scroll pattern. It featured long tapering sleeves and a full circular skirt which cascaded into a wide court train. Her fingertip veil of French illusion fell from a satin half bonnet, trimmed in lace and clusters of orange blossoms. She carried a shower basket of pink and white roses and white pon pons. The attendants? dusty rose taffeta gowns were styled with portrait necklines and skirts were of nylon net. The headpieces were of braided nylon net with pearls entwined and they carried colonial bouquets of talisman roses and white pon pons. The bride?s sister, Mrs. Edward Trimmer was matron of honor and Mrs. Kenneth Kessler and Darlene Goos were bridesmaids. Junior bridesmaids were Miss Sandra Sue Spencer, who wore a Nile green taffeta gown and carried yellow roses and daisies, and Miss Eileen Goos, wearing a yellow taffeta gown and carrying yellow roses and daisies. Miss Honey Lee Jefferis served as flower girl and Clinton Jefferis, jr., was ring bearer. Serving Mr. Goos as best man was Kenneth Kessler and ushers were Clinton Jefferis, Sr., Gerald Goos, and Delmar Goos. A four tiered wedding cake centered the serving table at the reception which followed the ceremony in the church parlors. Serving were Mesdames Clinton Jefferis, Sr., Delmar Goos, Charles Jefferis, Harry Von Welke, Roy Spencer and Gerald Goos. |
