Penny Denise Tanner and Shawn David Hartle were married May 31, 2003, at New McKendree United Methodist Church. The Rev. John Rice performed the ceremony. Soloist was Sissy Burnett of Cape Girardeau, and trumpeter was Jennifer Zoellner of Farrar, Mo.

The bride is the daughter of Martha Sides and Marvin Sides of Jackson. Gary and Barb Hartle of Jackson are parents of the groom.

Matron of honor was Connie Heath of Newnan, Ga., sister of the bride. Bridesmaid was Jennifer Burroughs of Jackson, sister-in-law of the bride.

Tony Birk of Delta was best man. Groomsman was Scott Kessels of St. Louis. Ushers and candlelighters were Michael Heath of Newnan, brother-in-law of the bride, and Tim Burroughs of Jackson, brother of the bride.

Flower girls were Mackenzie Heath and MaKayla Burroughs, nieces of the bride. Mackenzie is the daughter of Michael and Connie Heath. MaKayla is the daughter of Tim and Jennifer Burroughs.

Lisa Beussink attended the guest book.

Following the ceremony, the reception was held at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Jackson. Servers were Carolyn Stearns, Sarah Fadler and Kathryn Scharenborg.

The rehearsal dinner was May 30 at Reflections in Jackson.

Mrs. Hartle is a 1987 graduate of Jackson High School. She is employed in the accounting department at Spartech Plastics.

The groom is a 1990 graduate of Jackson High School, and a 1992 graduate of Ranken Technical School. He is a utilities electrician at Procter & Gamble.

After a wedding trip to Negril, Jamaica, the couple is residing in Jackson.
