An impressive wedding ceremony took place at 7:30 o'clock Friday evening Sept. 26 at Peace Lutheran church at Ulmer when Miss Iva Mae Burmeister, daughter of Mrs. Dorothea Burmeister of Ulmer and Roland W. Harto, son of Mrs. Catherine Harto of Id Grove were married before an altar decorated with bouquets of cut flowers and lighted candelabra. Rev. Arnold F. Bolhnke performed the double ring ceremony.

Mrs. James Blessington, organist, played "Bridal Chorus" from Lohengrin, as the processional and accompanied Janice Schneider who sang "O Perfect Love".

The bride was given in marriage by her uncle, Albert Burmeister. She wore a floor-length gown of white nylon over satin trimmed in lace with a long train and long sleeves, which came to a point at the wrist. The fitted bodice was fashioned with a sweetheart neckline.

Her fingertip veil of illusion net edged in lace was held in place with a pearlized orange blossom tiara. Her jewelry consisted of a single strand of pearls, a gift of the groom.

She carried a bridal bouquet of American Beauty roses. She also carried out the tradition of "something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue." She carried the handkerchief which her mother carried at her wedding.

Table waitresses were Lorraine Barthel of Ida Grove and Lorraine Luckow and Violetta Noelek of Carroll. Donna Jean Johnsen poured. Each wore a white organdy apron trimmed with little orchid and green bows, gifts of bride.

Katherine Schneider of Ida Grove, Mrs. Russell Johnson and Mrs. Harold Kruthaff assisted in the kitchen.

After a brief visit with relatives in Iowa the couple will live in Paw Paw, Ill., where the groom is employed.

Attending as matron of honor was the bride?s sister, Mrs. Donald Harto who wore a gown of orchid net of taffeta with a matching head dress. She carried a bouquet of Seafoam green carnations tied with lovers knots.

The bridesmaid Miss Va Von Frank wore a gown of Seafoam green identical to that of the matron of honor, she carried a bouquet of orchid carnations tied with lovers knots.

The groom was attended by his brother, Donald Harto and his nephew Gilbert Iversen.

They all wore light grey suits and white carnation boutonnieres.

Harley Burmeister cousin of the bride and Arnold Iversen brother of the groom ushered.

Both wore tan suits with white carnation boutonnieres.

The mother of the bride chose a navy blue dress. The groom?s mother wore a black dress. Their corsages were of lavender asters.

Following the ceremony a reception for about 70 guests was held in the Parish Hall in Ulmer which was decorated in the brides chosen colors of orchid and green.

The brides table was centered with a three tiered wedding cake decorated with orchid and green and topped with a miniature bride and groom which was baked by Miss Lorraine Barthel, friend of the bride. The wedding cake was cut and served by Mrs. Russell Johnson after the bride and groom cut the tradition first piece.
